Sproat Lake Recreation

The clear warm waters, wide open spaces, stunning natural beauty and central location make Sproat Lake a recreational paradise like no other. It is almost as if Sproat Lake was created to offer us endless entertainment. Popular pastimes on the lake include swimming, water-skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, camping and nature watching. From spring until fall, the waters are glassy calm for most of the day, with regular late afternoon breezes for those interested in sailing and wind surfing. Part of the area surrounding the lake has been preserved as a BC provincial park, complete with campsites and hiking trails. The lake is also known for its freshwater fishing: steelhead in April and May; and rainbow trout June through September. Boating is another popular Sproat Lake pastime, and you will frequently see kayaks, canoes, dragon boats, house boats, jet skis and motor boats enjoying the many arms of Sproat Lake.
